Three killed in two quakes SE Spain.

Three people were killed and others were injured,

while buildings collapsed after two earthquakes, measuring 4.5 and 5.2 on the

Richter scale, rocked the town of Lorca in Murcia region south-east of Spain

on Wednesday.

Lorca Mayor Francisco Jodar told local Spanish television that the first

quake occurred at 5:00 oclock in the afternoon local time, while the second

occurred at 7:00 oclock in the evening, adding that the fatalities were caused

by falling parts of buildings.

Lorca, of 100,000 residents, suffered a quake of 4.7 degrees in 2005, when

nearly 1,000 homes were damaged.
