Three held as guns and drugs seized.

POLICE arrested three people after finding drugs and a gun at two houses in Birmingham.

The dawn raids, carried out yesterday in Handsworth and Lozells, led to a large a haul of cannabis being seized along with a gun and seven bullets.

A 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested at one address on Park Avenue, Handsworth, and a 29-year-old woman was arrested at the second address on Barker Street, Lozells.

They were held on suspicion of criminal possession of firearms and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Det Insp Andy Bannister, of West Midlands Police, said: "The recovery of any weapon and any bullets is always a significant event.

"We always consider that each may represent a life saved.

"There can only be a zero tolerance to gun crime and I would urge anyone with information to call us."
