Three day international bio-ethics conference begins on Tuesday.

KARACHI -- Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant Centre SIUT through the platform of its Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC) will host an international bioethics and conference here from Tuesday to Thursday.

Organizers sharing details of the moot here on Monday said the event is being organized in collaboration with the Centre for Bioethics and Medical Humanities (CBMH), Indonesia.

It was mentioned that the conference is the second collaboration between the two bioethics centres, following a three day workshop hosted by CBMH in October 2016 in Indonesia.

Focusing on the dissemination of bioethics, the conference will begin with open session on Tuesday, during which representatives of UNESCO, WHO and EMRO/WHO will talk about international efforts to support bioethics education.

This was said to be followed by talks on the challenges faced in establishing Pakistan's only bioethics centre and educational strategies in teaching bioethics.

The rest of the conference will feature closed group sessions with the Indonesian contingent and invited participants from Pakistan that focus on methodologies for teaching bioethics.
