Three cheers for champ cheerleaders!
Members of the Academy of Cheer and Dance, based at Tongwynlais Village Hall, Tongwynlais, Cardiff, have secured three wins and a second place at the International Cheerleading Coalition's British National Championships.
The 42 girls, aged 11 to 24, earned first place wins in the dance, pom dance and junior cheer categories. The senior squad also excelled, earning a second place for cheerleading.
Success was extra sweet because the championships coincided with Wales' rugby win over Ireland last weekend.
Jo Redman, who trains the girls, said: "It was an amazing weekend. We did two dance performances, then we were presented with our awards and then we all went into the bar to watch Wales win.
"It was brilliant. We were freaking out. All the English people were looking at us a bit funny but we didn't care.
"I'm so proud of the girls. They worked so hard and they really deserve this."
The team, which competes under the name Academy of Cheer Allstars, is now preparing to face against teams from the UK and abroad at a competition called Future Cheer in Brighton in July.
