Threat to carriages.

AN animal rights campaigner has called for horse drawn carriages to be removed from the streets of Killarney.

The call follows a controversial proposal from the current New York Mayor to ban the carriages from the Big Apple.

Animal rights campaigners claim that the horses should be replaced with bicycles and other modes of transport.

John Carmody, founder of the Animal Rights Action Network, claimed that "depending on the outcome of the New York moves the days of carriages in Killarney could be numbered".
