Thousands to join race.

AROUND 4,000 competitors are expected to take part in tomorrow's race.

The race will start at the east end of Collingwood Street, in Newcastle city centre, at 7.15pm and finish at Blaydon Shopping Precinct car park around 9pm.

Runners will arrive in the Bigg Market, in Newcastle, from around 5pm and Northumbria Police are advising motorists to avoid the city centre, Gateshead and Scotswood as a number of roads will be closed.

Closures will start from 5.15pm in Newcastle with Scotswood Road shutting at 6.55pm. Several routes in Gateshead will close from 7.05pm to allow the race to go ahead safely.
