Thomson Financial Services to release Internet-based Thomson Direct's IB Profiler.

Thomson Financial Services (TFS) has announced that it will soon roll out its newest Internet-based product, Thomson Direct's IB Profiler (http:hwww.thom sondirect.com), a suite of TFS's financial databases covering ownership information, corporate finance and merger transactions, broker research, fundamentals, earnings estimates, trading information, and EDGAR filings.

Thomson Direct's IB Profiler will allow end users to obtain premiere data on global public and private companies from First Call, The Investext Group, Securities Data Company, AutEx, CDA, and other Thomson companies. Users will have the ability to extract information on their clients and develop a detailed profile of their corporate activities, gather competitive intelligence, and monitor other information that is vital to keeping abreast of the global marketplace. Alert services, real-time news, intra-day and historical price charting, and client bill-back functionality are some of the features of IB Profiler, a tool for the investment banking professional. Concise, tear-sheet style reports are pre-formatted for convenience.

In addition to leveraging the products and services of TFS, Thomson Direct's IB Profiler will also incorporate information from Moody's Investor Services, S&P ComStock, Comtex News, Internet Financial Network (IFN), and Information Access Company, which is also owned by Thomson.

"By offering a single interface that provides access to TFS's broad scope of information services that are widely used by investment bankers and other deal makers, we are essentially making research for the investment banker a quick and painless process," said John Gilbride, Thomson Direct's product manager. "While on the road, bankers can update their presentation with the latest market information by simply connecting to the Web. Thomson's innovative company ID matrix will give bankers the ability to integrate their firm's proprietary data -- such as call reports -- with public information, thus completing the client profile."

Thomson Direct's IB Profiler will be accessible either from the Internet via a browser or through a firm's intranet. An API version will also be available for users who wish to incorporate Thomson Direct's IB Profiler into their own proprietary systems.

Thomson Financial Services (http:// www.tfs.com) is a leading provider of financial information, research, analysis, and software to the global investment and corporate communities. TFS employs more than 4,500 people in 40 locations around the world and is part of The Thomson Corporation (TTC), a $7.7 billion company based in Toronto.
