Thomson Derwent Launches Patent ProfilesNet; Web-based Patent Alerting Service Delivers Alerts Within Days of Publication.

Business Editors/Health/Medical Writers/High-Tech Writers

LONDON & PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 2003

Today, Thomson Derwent announced the launch of Patent ProfilesNet--the new Web-based patent alerting service which provides essential alerts based on original patent documents from major patent offices worldwide. Presented in HTML format and delivered within days of publication, records consist of the patent's bibliographic data, main claim, abstract, and most important drawing. To ensure comprehensive coverage, Patent ProfilesNet also seamlessly links to the full patent documents in PDF format.

To initialize access and establish a user profile, customers first consult with one of the Derwent patent experts. This process is designed to guarantee profiles meet each user's specific requirements and that the most relevant alerts are delivered. Users have the option of receiving alerts weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Up to six months of alerts can be archived on the Patent ProfilesNet server, allowing users to track and report on usage through the statistics screen.

Additional Patent ProfilesNet features include:

-- Screen optimized layout

-- Zoomable drawing

-- User-friendly navigation

-- Printing and forwarding capability

-- Online help system

"We are very excited to be able to offer this convenient and efficient alerting service," said Jeremy Rosie, Product Development, Thomson Derwent. "Among the other features, Patent ProfilesNet provides a Table of Contents that enables users to browse through their alerts and select records for printing and email-forwarding to colleagues. All of the features of this new information solution have been designed to quickly and effectively meet the patent information needs of our customers."
