Thomas R. Peters.

Thomas R. Peters has been named senior vice president of marketing and business development at Morse Diesel International, one of the largest construction management and companies in the world, according to Donald H. Piser, chairman and CEO. Peters joined the firm's New York office in January 1991 as senior vice president and director of special projects.

He replaces David J. Vaughan, who has accepted a new position with AMEC p.l.c. in Hong Kong.

Peters' primary function will be to plan, develop and manage business development and marketing efforts at the corporate level, and to direct the development of major proposals, presentations, public relations and graphics activities. Furthermore, in conjunction with Morse Diesel's executive group, he will be responsible to develop objectives and strategies in support of the firm's overall business development goals.

The executive brings a total of 29 years of engineering and construction industry experience in the public and private sectors to his new position. Prior to joining Morse Diesel, he was a senior vice president at Lehrer McGovern Bovis, Inc., in New York, a post held since 1985. While there, he was the senior officer responsible for the administration and construction of major projects in the New York area, including the restoration of the Statute of Liberty; the reconstruction and restoration of Ellis Island; the reconstruction of the Central Park Zoo; the construction of Chase Manhattan Center in Brooklyn; the Capital Cities/ABC Headquarters Building in New York; the major modernization program for New York Hospital, and program management for the redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport.

From 1982 to 1985, Peters was a senior vice president at Park Tower Realty, in New York. His responsibilities included management of the design and construction of Park Tower developments in Manhattan, such as the Times Square Redevelopment Project; 60 Wall Street; Park Avenue Tower, 33 Maiden Lane, and 535 Madison Avenue. From 1977 to 1982, Mr. Peters worked at Morse Diesel as a vice president.

Peters received a BS in Civil Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, an MBA degree from Pace University in New York City, and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York. From 1958 to 1962 he served as a lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve. He currently resides in Lewisboro, New York.
