This Train's Pulling Out Of The Station

Amtrak is ready to depart the gloomy confines of the Train Station and has its eye on a couple of destinations -- a site near 65th and University and a building across from the train station owned by Flake & Co..

"The (train station) building is more or less worn out," says regional Amtrak chief Neal Wright of San Antonio. "The lobby has never been heated or cooled sufficiently and we feel that there are other things we can do."

Wright isn't involved in the negotiations and doesn't know when Amtrak might arrive at a new location. Even though plans have been drawn for the site at 65th & University, he claims that "we're still shopping around."
