This physical, not sporting achievement.

Byline: IANDOYLE

HIS records may have been expunged, but disgraced Lance Armstrong continues to linger around the Tour de France.

Armstrong was this week riding the course of a stage as part of exfootballer Geoff Thomas's One Day Ahead fundraising event.

Thomas says the American deserves another chance to contribute to the fight against cancer.

It's a tricky one. That Armstrong is arguably sport's biggest-ever fraud is beyond dispute even if his greatest failure was instead his inability to admit his deception.

However, that he recovered from being given only a 20% chance of surviving cancer to become a seven-time Tour champion (even with the help of suspicious methods) was a remarkable testament of how a body can recover.

If Armstrong deserves a chance, it shouldn't be for his incredible sporting achievement but instead an incredible physical achievement.
