This is why you'll see flames in the sky in Croydon tonight; In case you were wondering...

People inCroydonmight get a bit of a surprise if they look up tonight.

The sky is going to be illuminated by a colourful display of flames, fireworks and smoke from 8.45pm to 9.15pm.

Why, you ask?

It's a private air display where aircrafts are going to perform some impressive moves in the sky using pyrotechnics.

The display is going to be held over Addington - so stay in that area if you want to try catch a glimpse of it.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police in Croydon highlighted the event on Twitter to give people a heads up about it.

They said: "A Private Air Display will be held over Addington tonight from 8.44pm to 9.14pm.

"Two light aircraft will do controlled manouvres and release pyrotechnics and smoke during the event."

They didn't say why the display is being held, but it could be for a big celebration like a wedding or a fancy party.
