Byline: Laura Hartley

After experiencing an unusually hot and sunny start to the summer, Coventry was hit by rain and thunderstorms.

Although they weren't as bad as other places in the country, where up to a month's worth of rain fell in just a few hours, our weather certainly rained on our parade.

Today,we can expect more rain, but some good news, in that the heatwave will return.

We've got the forecast for the week ahead here in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Monday

It looks like rain will be on the cards again today, with showers on and off at different points through the day and into this evening.

There will be a couple of dry spells, one at lunchtime between 12pm-2pm and another between 4pm-6pm.

Temperatures are higher than the weekend though, reaching a muggy 22C this afternoon.

The rest of the week looks a lot brighter.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Temperatures will be lingering around 22C again tomorrow and Wednesday, with more sunshine on Tuesday.

Expect a shower early doors around 7am, however after that, the sun should make some sort of appearancethrough the clouds during the morning and into the evening for a clear night.

On Wednesday, we will be starting August with a bit more cloud than we'd like.

However temperatures will stick at 21C and 22C.

Things to do this summer

And it isn't just the sun that will be rising, the temperatures are also on the up.

The heat is rising to 25C on Thursday, and back to a scorching 27C on Friday, with blazing sunshine.
