Third-Quarter Numbers

Third-quarter numbers are out for Jones Truck Lines Inc. of Springdale. Figures show the company lost $56,000 on quarterly revenues of almost $57 million.

JTL has also been in the news lately due to a class-action lawsuit filed by unhappy pension fund participants alleging sloppy bookkeeping. Some close to the company think it desperately needs the plan's surplus assets.

1990 is looking better than 1989, however. Yearly totals stand at a loss of $361,000 on revenues of $169 million. This time last year the company had losses of $718,000 on revenues of $148 million.

Although the company, thought to be the oldest trucking firm in the state and among the top 20 LTL's in the country, is private and doesn't have to release its numbers to the public, it does have to share them with the Interstate Commerce Commission.
