Thief given more time to sell home.

A WOMAN jailed for stealing pounds 47,000 from her employer has been given extra time to pay back the money.

Cheryl Bunce, 53, had been given six months to sell the house in Ball Road, Llanrumney, which she owns jointly with her husband in order to compensate her bosses.

But at Cardiff Crown Court Judge Paul Thomas QC agreed to a request from her lawyers that the period be extended by a further three months.

At the original case hearing in 2009, Bunce admitted thefts from ICC Information, based at Crwys Road, Cardiff, which were said to have gone on for five years.

The court was told how she had used correction fluid to blank out names on company cheques and replace them with her own. She was found out when a bank worker in London noticed the alterations.

Earlier this year, calculations on the value of her house minus the outstanding mortgage revealed her share from a sale would be just over pounds 33,000.

She was warned at the time that she would spent an additional 15 months in jail if she failed to pay. That sentence could still be imposed if she does not meet the new deadline of October.

She has already served the 18-month term for the theft.
