They Lost the plot.

WILL FERRELL stars in this lame, big-screen version of the Saturday morning kids show from the Seventies.

He plays scientist Dr Rick Marshall who, along with his assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and some random unfunny bloke, are sucked back through a vortex to a land of the lost populated by dinosaurs and an army of lizard men known as the Sleestak.

About an hour in, Ferrell declares he's given up - well, so had I, half an hour earlier. There was one gag involving Cher's song Believe that was mildly comical but, apart from that, the comedy's default is innuendo and the resultant movie isn't funny or suitable for kids - especially a randy monkey character called Chaka (Jorma Taccone) who keeps grabbing Friel's breasts.

It's a jumbled, incoherent mess of ad-libbed indulgences.

A MESS: Will Ferrell
