These policemen aren't so welcome; FEEDBACK.

I WAS recently down memory lane with a friend, decrying the fact that we rarely see policemen on our streets, unlike the old days when a friendly bobby was seen every day.

My friend laughed and said there were many policemen on our streets but they caused many problems and were a nuisance.

I had to agree with him when he told me that he was referring to the so called "sleeping policemen" used to slow traffic.

This reminded me of an Australian friend's comment that with their "policemen" and potholes Cardiff roads were the worst he had ever driven on.

I wonder how many people have had their cars damaged and their bodies jarred on our roads. The sleeping policeman alongside the children's hospital in UHW is, in my view, the worst. A few weeks ago, although I was driving at a crawl, my wife jarred her neck and is still suffering pain today.

Of course it is important to slow traffic, particularly near schools, but surely there are better ways.
