There has been nothing like this dame; Judi Dench - A BAFTA Tribute Saturday, BBC1, 11.00pm.

STEPHEN FRY hosts this star- studded tribute to Dame Judi Dench to honour her long and varied career in film, television and theatre.

"I am proud to share a land mass with her," Stephen says. "I believe that railings should be built around her so that all may admire her in an orderly and respectful fashion."

Lord Attenborough will present Dame Judi with The Academy Fellowship, the highest accolade bestowed by BAFTA for her outstanding contribution to film and television.

Guests taking part include Pierce Brosnan, Billy Connolly, Richard E Grant, Joseph Fiennes, Jim Broadbent, Richard Briers, Geoffrey Palmer, Dame Maggie Smith, Sir John Mills, June Whitfield, Rufus Sewell and John Hurt.

"Dame Judi is one of the finest actresses this country has ever produced - a beautiful woman, someone I've admired for many, many years; someone who has touched the heart of every man and woman who's seen her," says Pierce.

During the show, Judi, whose career has spanned nearly 40 years, hears from many of the stars she has worked with during this time, including Kate Winslet, her co-star in film Iris, due for release this month. Kate admits: "I would work with Judi if I had to be a tea lady hovering in the back of the frame."

Cher, her co-star in Tea With Mussolini, says: "Even if she's not speaking in a scene, it's possible for her to steal it, right from underneath you."

And Kevin Spacey reveals: "She is, first of all, not a bad pool-player, which many people may not know. She does, however, cheat at ping-pong and that's an important thing everyone knows about her. And I'm completely and absolutely in love with her." High praise indeed.
