Theatre preview; Silence is Golden, Sherman Theate, Cardiff.
CART chases, crossdressing and calamity are on the cards when Welsh acting students stage their turn of the millennium love triangle Silence is Golden.
The play, which opens at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, on May 29, is performed by third year acting students from the Welsh College of Music and Drama .
It's written by former student Moira Buffini, who won a Time Out Award in 1992 for her performance in Jordan and went on to teach drama at Holloway Prison.
Set at the turn of the first Millennium, Silence is Golden is based on historical fact and tells the story of the mismatched marriage of the adolescent Lord Silence and a fiercely independent 30-year-old Princess of Normandy. Along with the fearsome tyrant Ethelred the Unready, a French maid, the warrior Eadric Longshaft, and Roger the agoraphobic priest, the newlyweds take the audience on an extraordinary coming of age adventure filled with crossdressing, adulterous love triangles, telekinesis and magic mushrooms.
