Theatre's stock soars higher after Slicker success; FUTURE STAR City Slicker.

CITY SLICKER propelled himself towards the top of ante-post betting lists for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March after coasting to victory at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

The four-year-old gelding finished fourth on his debut at Naas last month but his trainer Willie Mullins reported the race had come too soon.

City Slicker is a son of the late Ballylinch Stud dualpurpose sire King's Theatre, whose final crop of foals have been in hot demand at this year's National Hunt sales.

They have sold for an average of 26,746gns in 2012, with Ben Case paying a high of [euro]75,000 for the sire's son out of Pomme Tiepy at last month's Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale.

The commercial popularity reflects the success of King's Theatre's progeny over jumps. Last season the likes of Captain Chris, Menorah, Riverside Theatre and Voler La Vedette helped the stallion to his first jumps sires' championship.

City Slicker was bred by Gary Adams out of the Supreme Leader mare Donna's Princess, who was trained by Garrett Ducey to win a maiden hurdle and two chases over 2m-2m1f.

The dam has already clicked with King's Theatre to produce the useful chaser Carrigmartin. She also has a three-year-old filly by Kalanisi, a yearling colt by Zagreb and a filly foal by Beneficial.

MV Magnier bought City Slicker for [euro]135,000 at last year's Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
