Rodin was president of the U. of Pennsylvania and oversaw the innovative urban renewal program she describes in this volume. The program was created in an effort to reduce crime around the university by facilitating homebuying among lower income people in the area, including creating programs to teach new homebuyers how to buy a home and also following up with them on paying their mortgages. Other related building programs are described, including on-campus buildings, and commercial buildings in the surrounding area of West Philadelphia.
