The star connection Cilla Black.
Why then did she feel it was necessary to behave like a trollop from a whore-house to entertain the Queen and Prince Phillip in Monday's Royal Variety Performance?
As she grunted, gyrated and 'lit up' her breast and groin love-hearts in front of a family audience, you had to wonder just what she was thinking.
Was this the same Cilla who got excited at the prospect of buying a new hat for Blind Date weddings? Was this the same woman who brought long-lost relatives back together in a shower of tears and sentiment on Surprise Surprise?
Even Babs Windsor managed to maintain a bit of dignity as she cavorted on the Royal Variety stage in her basque, but then Babs didn't have the flashing norks that made Cilla look less coy than Pamela Anderson on her wedding day.
As Echo features editor Neil Cammies so perfectly put it, Cilla looked like a malevolent spider with teeth.
