The scaphoid. (DVD-ROM included)

Ed. by David J. Slutsky and Joseph F. Slade.

Thieme Medical Publishers

376 pages

Up-to-date surgical treatment of scaphoid fractures and nonunions requires incorporation of numerous innovations of the last ten years, including the headless Herbert screw, the annulated headless screw, and improved techniques for vascularized bone grafts. This volume covers the gamut of old and new treatments, each chapter discussing anatomical considerations, indications and contraindications, and the procedure itself, step by step. Material is arranged in 42 abundantly illustrated chapters, and the included DVD-ROM contains videos for many of the procedures. Contributions were brought together by editors Slutsky (reconstructive hand surgery, UCLA School of Medicine) and Slade, who died as the book was in press and is commemorated in this volume; he was affiliated with Yale U. School of Medicine and was an innovative pioneer in the field.
