The regional workshop on information management for better humanitarian work continues.

Muscat, Jan 26 (ONA)--- The regional workshop on information management for better humanitarian work , organized by the National Committee for Civil Defence at Royal Oman Police (ROP) in collaboration with Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Aids (OCHA)Aa continued its activities at Bar Al Jissah Resort today.

AaAaAaAa The workshop covered a number of issues including the tools and mechanisms used in civil defence and reviewed the experiences in the field of exchange of information. It also discussed the successful exchange of information among organizations and provinces to ensure coordinated efforts that serve the interest of all. It also discussed means of coordinating the efforts of these organizations and provinces to sound achievements of the tasks through management and exchange of information in the humanitarian field.

AaAaAaAa The workshop also discussed improving the communications with victims of disasters and how activist in the field of relief can develop the bilateral communication with the victims and how to use new media and social means.

AaAaAaAa The workshopAaAa was opened yesterday under the auspices of Lt. Gen. Malik bin Sulaiman al Ma'amari, Inspector General of Police and Customs and Chairman of the National Committee for Civil Defence. The workshop aims at providing the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding for the status of information management in a regional context and acknowledging the major role that could be played by a group comprising governments , media means , international organizations , non-governmental organization and UN to ensure effective use of such information in humanitarian preparedness and response.

AaAaAaAa The workshop aims at identifying the best regional and international practices related to information management and providing wirers in the humanitarian field either inside or outside the region with a number of recommendations that improve data use in human response field.
