The race is on to protect pigeons.
AN MSP wants action to protect thousands of racing pigeons nationwide.They are being wiped out by birds of prey as they are exercised or raced.
Dozens of fanciers have dropped out in recent years because of the huge losses they are sustaining.
Alex Fergusson, a South of Scotland MSP, claims skylarks, curlews and peewits are also being killed.
Many birds of prey have been re-introduced after threat of extinction.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds claim their numbers are just returning to natural levels.
