Caption: The organizers of San Diego's nationally recognized Gay Pride Festival and event sponsors teamed up on July 27 and 28 to provide safe, responsible transportation alternatives for attendees consuming alcoholic beverages. In partnership with Miller Brewing Company and Mesa Distributing Co., Inc., Miller's San Diego area distributor, Gay Pride recruited more than 150 adult designated drivers and provided more than 250 Safe Ride Home passes on Cloud 9 Shuttle to attendees who hadn't arranged for a designated driver. In addition to sponsoring the safe ride passes, Miller and Mesa provided free non-alcoholic Sharp's beverages to legal age adults who volunteered to be designated drivers. "Our festival has grown into one of the country's best Gay Pride events and we are proud of the recognition and reputation we have earned over the years," said Suanne Pauley, Executive Director of Gay Pride. "Miller and Mesa have been great sponsors and supporters for the past six years. We particularly appreciate their help in crea ting a safe and enjoyable environment for the festival."
