The oil patch.
NEW CHARTS--The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) started the New Year with a new style of charts. They are a lot cleaner, though not necessarily clearer. And we are starting the New Year by dropping the daily chart. Since we spend so much time telling readers the daily figures mean nothing, it seemed to make sense not to take up space with that chart. So, here we go, with weekly averages above and the monthly averages below. Periodically, we will add the annual averages. And what do we see? No surprise. Jerky weekly averages, but monthly averages steady as she goes. The March average is a bit higher than any recent month, but not by much. Essentially, there has been no real movement for six months and not much movement for 10 months.
