The next PM will be Miliband if you do not shut up, Boris; Cam 'feared bumbler would cost Tories May election'.

Byline: BEN GLAZE Political Correspondent

FUMING David Cameron fired off a text message to Boris Johnson, telling him to "f***ing shut up", it has emerged.

The Prime Minister feared the bumbling London Mayor would cost the Tories the general election and propel Labour's Ed Miliband to power.

Mr Cameron was outraged by a list Boris had written, detailing all the Old Etonians who ended up in No 10.

The touchy Conservative chief stormed: "The next PM will be Miliband if you don't f***ing shut up."

The revelation came yesterday in a new biography of Mr Cameron, which reveals the ongoing rivalry between the posh pair.

A No10 insider said: "There was a sense the PM and Chancellor took the difficult decisions while Boris, with his bumbling, lapped it up and twisted the knife."

One former aide added: "There is a big feeling Boris is a fair-weather friend who strikes poses and can't be trusted." The book, Cameron at No10: The Inside Story, lifts the lid on their squabbles and claims Mr Cameron got jealous as Boris hogged the limelight during the 2012 Olympics.

Authors Anthony Seldon and Peter Snowdon tell how Boris rebuffed a plea to stand in last year's Clacton by-election against Douglas Carswell, who quit the Tories, stood for UKIP and ultimately retained the seat.

It also reveals how former defence chief General Lord Richards blasted Mr Cameron's record in Syria and Libya - and for failing to back tougher action to tackle Islamic State.

The peer said: "If they'd had the balls they would have gone through with it. If they'd done what I'd argued, they wouldn't be where they are with ISIS."

He added: "In Ukraine, as in Syria and Libya, there is a lack of strategy.

"The problem is the inability to think things through. It seems to be more about the Notting Hill liberal agenda rather than statecraft."
