The mysterious spot card.

What They See:

You place a card with six colored spots on the table and ask someone to name a number from one to six. It can be any of the six numbers. Someone names a number. You then count to that number (or perhaps spell the number) and stop on the blue dot. The card is turned over and a large blue spot is seen. You knew your friend would choose the number that would end on the blue spot.

Getting Ready:

Make a copy of the two sides of the card on page 19 and glue them back to back. You might want to glue a piece of index card in between them to make a good, stiff card. Using markers, color each of the small spots the color indicated by the initial in the center of the spot: red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple. Color the large circle blue.

What You Do:

Sit so you are on one side of the table, and your friends are on the other side of the table. Place the card on the table so that the six colored spots show. Keep the big blue spot hidden until the end of the stunt. Ask someone to name a number from one to six. What you do depends on the number that is named. You will have to remember the six possible ways of doing this stunt.

If the chosen number is "1," turn the card so that the red and yellow spots are toward you. Say, "You chose 1. We will spell the number 1." Using a pencil, point to the red spot and say, "O." Point to the yellow spot and say, "N," and then to the blue spot and say, "E. One. Your lucky number is 1 and your lucky color is blue. Turn the card over." Your friend does and finds the big blue spot.

It is important that your friend sit opposite you. As you point with the pencil, your friend will be counting or spelling from left to right, as he normally would.
