The music in Mondo's mind.

Mondo Castro comes from a family of actors, broadcasters and musicians (pwede ba kita maging bro?!).

He is the son of the late broadcaster Reynaldo Castro, and nephew of the late news anchor Angelo Castro Jr. The late actor Rico Yan is his cousin. He also has the genes of his tito and tita, legendary actors Robert Arevalo and Barbara Perez (pengeng dugo, bro!).

No wonder he entered showbiz at a young age. He started with several ABS-CBN TV and film projects as actor-host. He also became a radio jock (at dahil dyan close na tayo!).

But one thing is constant and that is his love for music (ako ba love mo bro?!).

"Music is my safe place. I can always run to its arms when the world brings me down. It is also my happy place," Mondo said (sama mo naman ako dyan baby...este, bro!).

Years ago, he formed the indie band The Pin-Ups but after several gigs, it disbanded. Mondo thought of establishing a new team; this time, an acoustic-based band called The Beautiful Letdown (TBL) named after Switchfoot's fourth album.

Mondo is guitarist. The other members are lead vocalist Hanah Barreto of Team Lea from "The Voice Philippines," lead guitarist Joey Lee and bassist Don Balbieran (baka need mo ko dyan ha!).

"TBL music is an amalgamation of the members' influences. There are traces of indie, brit-pop, jazz, 90s, alternative, folk and pop. It's easy listening, perfect for stressed people!" Mondo explained (basta ako di ako ma-stress sayo, bro!).

The business consultant and lecturer admits maintaining a group is not easy. He just feels blessed with why TBL is united in this endeavor.

"Our songs are culled from our life experiences and faith in Jesus though we aren't a praise and worship group," he said (ay, behave na po ako!).

TBL recently released the single and music video for "Where Do I Go?" (go ka sakin bro!).

"The fulfillment in being part of this group is the creation of something out of a collective effort. The feeling of completing a song is incomparable for us, plus having shared purpose is in itself a reward. We have a clear direction. We exist to glorify God through our songs," Mondo shared (amen at 'yun lang nasabi ko, bro, push!)
