The hell with wisdom.

Say this about Donald Trump: He's testing the limits of NH politicos' conventional wisdom.

After all, for lo these many years, it has been an Article of Faith that NH is and will always be John McCain country. And why not? The guy has been a proven vote-getter here (OK, not so much when Barack Obama's on the opposing ticket). But nevertheless, JM remains a lot more popular in the Granite State than a lot of our own elected officials.

But along comes DT, and whaddaya know? He once again opens his Big Trap, this time about his definition of what makes a war hero, and, and you'd expect the signs at the border to read, "Bienvenue au New Hampshire/Allez-Vous-En (Trump this means you)!"

In other words, you would have thought the Veterans Parade Grand Marshal had just made himself radioactive in NH.

Guess again. While many of NH's politicos took a moment to blast/ condemn/denounce DT, others--well ... not even a wrist-slap came from his camp.

Consider former state rep Lou Gargiulo, DT's Rockingham County co-chair, who followed the lead of his candidate by doubling-down on the critics--this time GOP Chair Jennifer Horn. LG called on JH to resign from her post after she called Trump's comments about JM "disgraceful."

Then there's the case of state rep Peter Varney, who downplayed DT's anti-McCain diatribe by invoking the political Theory of Relativity: "Do I agree with his comment about McCain?" said Varney. "No, but politicians have said a lot worse."

No doubt they have, but give DT credit. He's only been opening his mouth as a prez candidate for just a few weeks now.
