The electronic gallery.

The Electronic Gallery will be celebrating its sixth anniversary at the 1990 National Art Education Association conference in Kansas City. This annual, professionally juried membership exhibit is presented in the form of a multi-image slide presentation with music and voice overlay. The benefits of this national membership exhibit by artist/instructors includes professional recognition and wider exposure as well as the opportunity to view the work of colleagues. Also, gallery directors searching for talent make contact with artists they wish to exhibit. A brochure of the exhibition, the participants and the award winners will be available at the conference.

Marsha Hogue describes the exhibit, that she initiated and now coordinates, in these terms: "The statement we are making as working artists is that within each one of us there is a need to create, to give outward expression to what otherwise would remain locked in the mind, unshared. If you have ever experienced something intensely and shared that experience with others you have been where art begins. The Electronic Gallery is an exhibit of very special people who have chosen to educate and expand young minds in creative expression. One day, these young people will inherit our environment to create change, alter, design and modify the relationships they see. Confronting the creative process will serve to sensitize one to this environment--to express one's humanness, ultimately to make the difference."

Work shown in this showcase is representative of Electronic Gallery award winners from the 1989 exhibition. The 1989 Electronic Gallery was the first to go on tour in its entirety. The NAEA National Touring Exhibition was viewed in eight states beginning in September 1989 at the Mabee Foundation Gallery, Culver Stockton College, Canton, Missouri.
