George T. Abernathy, M.D., F.A.C.C., attended Emory University and the University of Minnesota before serving with the U.S. Army in Thailand, Vietnam and Texas. He served on extended active duty with the U.S. Air Force Academy, Wiesbaden USAF Hospital in Germany, and Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. A colonel, Dr. Abernathy served as director of cardiology for the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Abernathy, board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, is a non-invasive cardiologist practicing clinical cardiology with expertise in echocardiography, stress echo and nuclear cardiology. His professional affiliations include fellowship in the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association Clinical Council, and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Florida Medical Association.

Victor Baga, M.D., F.A.C.C., a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medical and Surgery, Manila, Philippines, received his medical internship at Elmhurst-Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Baga completed his internal medicine residency at Misericordia-Fordham and Brooklyn Methodist Hospitals, and his cardiology fellowship at Brooklyn Methodist and Coney Island-Maimonides Hospitals.

Dr. Baga's professional affiliations include fellowship in the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. He is also a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and the Sarasota County Medical Society. He is an interventional cardiologist, specializing in cardiac catheterization.

Michael A. Basnight, M.D., F.A.C.C, received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master's degree in biomedical electronics at Tulane University in New Orleans. He received his medical degree from the Tulane School of Medicine. Dr. Basnight's internship and residency were conducted at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and his cardiac fellowship at the San Francisco Heart Institute.

Board certified in cardiology and internal medicine, Dr. Basnight conducts and publishes his clinical research. He is certified in cardiac MRI/MRA and is a member of the American Colleges of Cardiology and Clinical Research, American Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, and the Sarasota County Medical Society. He is an interventional cardiologist, specializing in cardiac catheterization and vascular intervention.

Chandana Bopitiya, M.D., F.A.C.C., earned his medical degree from the University of Ceylon, Sri Lanka. He completed his internship and residency at Colombo South Hospital and the Coney Island Hospital-Maimondes Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. His cardiology fellowship was performed at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He practiced cardiology as attending physician in outpatient medical and cardiology clinics affiliated with Coney Island Hospital and was the associate chief of cardiology at Brooklyn Hospital.

Dr. Bopitiya is a member of the American College of Physicians, Chest Pain Physicians, Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, and the American Heart Association Cardiology. He is an interventional cardiologist, specializing in cardiac catheterization.

Barry J. Weckesser, M.D., F.A.C.C, completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Florida, Gainesville. He finished his internship and residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and his cardiology fellowship at the University of Maryland. For 18 years he practiced cardiology in Baltimore, including serving as the director of the Coronary Care Unit of Mercy Hospital. Dr. Weckesser also served as a U.S. Army Major, which included a one-year tour in Vietnam.

He is Board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Weckesser is a non-invasive cardiologist. He practices clinical cardiology with expertise in echocardiography, stress echo and nuclear cardiology. He is certified in cardiac MRI/MRA and is a member of the American Colleges of Echocardiography, Cardiology and Clinical Research, the American Society of Internal Medicine, and the Florida Medical Association.
