The biggest I've seen!

STOKESLEY big fish ace Darren Wilcox is back from a thrilling trip to Spain which produced the biggest catfish he has ever seen.

The huge 207lb fish was caught on pellet by 19-year-old Callum Gutteridge one of nine British anglers who made the trip to the River Ebro.

Wilcox who was targetting carp, and caught them to 33lb as well as a few catfish of around the same weight, said: "It was Callum's first ever catfish, and the biggest I have seen. My personal best is 148lb.

"For the first quarter of an hour I don't think Callum's fish even knew it had been hooked.

"Then it took off upstream. When they do that you know it's a big one.

"They had to get in a boat to go after it once it started taking line."

Among them the party of anglers caught around 20 catfish, and about 70 carp to 48lb.

Former rallycross champion Wilcox has been to the Ebro several times and also fishes carp matches in this country.

He fishes a singles championship at Welham Lake near Malton soon, then later in the year will target the Northern then the British Championships.

The yearly trips that Darren makes to Spain are sponsored by DNA baits, with all of the fish being caught on the company's products.
