The adventure book.

The Adventure Book, Third Edition (Sobek International Explorers Society, Angels Camp, Calif., 1984; $5.95) is an international traveler's dream book. Compiled by Sobek, originator of many whitewater runs around the world, it combines the U.S. and foreign offerings of some 50 expedition firms. Descriptions are brisk and vivid; there's a wealth of superbe color photographs interspersed with quotations from noted writers.

A sampling: Five days of ballooning in the snowy Victorian Alps of Australia, $595. A week exphoring Kingston and hiking in Jamaica, $345. Eighteen days hiking in Madagascar, living with villagers, $1,245.

To order a copy, send $5.95 (book rate) or $7.95 (first class) to Sobek, Box 333, Angels Camp 95222; California residents add sales tax.
