The World of Masks.

The World of Masks

Warmer Educational Productions, P.O. Box 8791, Fountain Valley, CA 92728. Two film-strips, two cassettes, teacher's guide. This program does a lively job of showing and describing the social, ritual and technical issues embedded in the masks of many cultures, and in helping the viewer appreciate the power inherent in this art form. While masks from the Americas, Africa, the Mediterranian area, the Far East and a few places in between are presented and discussed in cultural, technical and aesthetic contexts, it is the focus on masks made on the island of Bali that catches special attention. This part of the program is especially effective in helping the viewer understand the cultural influences evident in masks.

This is an excellent program for students at all levels. It is most useful in motivating lessons in many art forms. Highly recommended.
