The WLT Book Club.

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]

In the January 2010 issue, WLT introduced its new online book club, beginning with Merlinda Bobis's The Solemn Lantern Maker. Our next selection is War Dances (Grove, 2009), a collection of short stories and poems by Native author, poet, and filmmaker Sherman Alexie (Spokane/Coeur d'Alene), who won a 2007 National Book Award for The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Young People's Literature). Alexie's other works of fiction include Reservation Blues, Ten Little Indians, and The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (for more about the author, visit www.shermanalexie.com).

For discussion questions about War Dances and related materials, visit www.worldliteraturetoday. com, and join us on Facebook for a discussion of the book. And if you can be in Norman, Oklahoma, on March 25-26, 2010, join us for the Puterbaugh Festival of World Literature & Culture, at which Alexie will give a public talk and sign copies of his books. For a complete festival schedule, visit the WLT website.
