The Viva! girls love... 50s dresses, tweed skirts and the saucy Swede.

IT might not be the finest film in the world but we love Stepford Wives. Aside from the big name performances courtesy of Nicole Kidman, Bette Midler, Glenn Close and Matthew Broderick, we adore the spoof humour, bright scenery and most of all the gorgeously kitsch, 50s dresses.

SPEAKING of style, roll on autumn, so we can officially shrug off these shivering bits of chiffon that make our so-called summer wardrobe and get stuck into tweed skirts, schoolmarm specs and chunky sweaters that look to be big next season.

AS every cheering footie fan - or wailing soccer widow - knows only too well, the football season has kicked off again. Despite not caring two hoots about keeping our eye on the ball, it gives us a good excuse to satisfy our insatiable appetite for gossip re-reading the ins and outs of Svengate and chewing the fat over Faria Alam's kiss 'n' tell stories.
