The Sex Doctor: Will he stay if I say no to sex?

Byline: Dr Catherine Hood is here to answer

I'M in my 20s and have had my fair share of men. I love meeting men in clubs and sometimes I'll go home with them. With many of the men I'm only after sex, but there have been times when I've been really interested in a man and he's only wanted a one-night stand.

Do you think abstaining from sex will help me find a man to marry?

ABSTAINING from sex may not help you find the man of your dreams but it may help you appreciate what's important in a relationship.

When you meet a partner you like it's easy to make the quick decision to sleep with them, even before you know much about them. But this is all the wrong way around. Once you've had sex, it can be difficult to turn the clock back and get to know a person.

Deciding to do without sex can give you the space to get to know partners on a platonic level before deciding to get physical.
