The Sex Doctor: Do I tell him or just keep mum?

Byline: Dr Catherine Hood

Dear Dr Cath

I'M in a real mess. A month after my husband went abroad to work I met a man in a bar. Before I knew it, I was in his arms, then his bed. Then I found out I was pregnant.

I've lied about my dates and told my husband that he's the father. The real dad is out of the picture and I want to save my marriage.

YOU need to think carefully about what you want to do. On the one hand, what your husband doesn't know can't hurt him, but you'd have to be sure he wouldn't find out.

You will also have to think up a good story for giving birth a month early.

Even if you get the dates right there's a risk your baby's blood group might not be the same as yours or your husband's, which would give the game away.

The other option is to come clean and hope your husband will forgive you. Everyone can make a stupid mistake and sometimes lying to cover your tracks only make matters worse.
