In related news, Alfred Doblin has been named assistant managing editor/ editorial page editor for The Record, replacing Dick Benfield.

Prior to joining the Herald News of West Paterson, New Jersey, in July 2000, Doblin was the executive editor of a chain of weeklies on Long Island. He also spent ten years working in the Catholic press, most notably as the editor of newspapers for the archdiocese of Detroit and Los Angeles.

"Alfred's enthusiasm, vision and love for The Record are sure to serve the paper well in the coming years," commented editor Frank Scandale in making the announcement.
