The Realtor trademark: a professional edge.

The Realtor trademark identifies a professional who has gone beyond licensing to become a member of a local association, such as the Bronx Board of Realtors, and has agreed to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics.

Not all licensed real estate brokers or salespersons are Realtors. The terms are not synonymous and should not be confused. The term Realtor is also the distinctive and exclusive designation for the members of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR), and local boards including the Bronx Board of Realtors (BBR).

Buyers and sellers require experienced professionals concerning their real estate needs. Realtors keep pace with the industry and have access to important information regarding laws, proposed legislation, government guidelines and up-to-the-minute industry developments.

Realtors will present a true picture when advertising and will not advertise property without the consent of the owner. They will recommend that legal counsel be obtained when necessary. Adherence to the Code of Ethics insures buyers and sellers of Realtors' obligation to provide quality service and loyalty as a top priority. The bottom line is simple. Realtors help you sell and they help you buy.

More Benefits and Services

Membership in the Bronx Board of Realtors goes beyond authorization to utilize the Realtor logo. It provides a wide range of valuable programs and services for professionals directly or indirectly servicing the real estate industry. Some of these benefits are: group health insurance premium discounts for excellent coverage at competitive rates; computerized Multiple Listing Service (effective 1996. Currently, there are over 170 participating agents with over 600 active listings); free Legal Hotline (for Realtors only), which can potentially save thousands in legal fees; the Education Program, which features qualifying courses for salespersons and brokers plus continuing education courses; the Mobile Telephone Program, which includes group rates and discounts; the Complete Property Record Service, which provides property block, lot, taxes and owner information; discounts available for lease forms for apartment, loft, store and management agreements, etc; ethics and arbitration procedures that can also save time and legal fees; informational seminars featuring cutting edge topics for your benefit each month; a free newsletter subscription to The Professional Edge mailed monthly; new business solicitation providing companies the opportunity to advertise directly to industry professionals in four major publications; networking opportunities available by attending any one of three popular events; and much more.

Where You Can be Active and Benefit

A broad cross-section of professionals are active in this organization, including licensed real estate brokers, salespersons, property owners, property managers, banks, lending companies, title and abstract companies, attorneys, appraisers, general contractors, and various companies servicing the real estate industry throughout the New York metropolitan area.

I characterize the intelligent professional as being our best member. This organization brings together the most successful people in the industry by sponsoring major networking opportunities.

Networking for More Business

Successful professionals realize how important it is to keep in touch with current clients or contacts and also continue to reach out for new business by networking. The networking events sponsored by the Bronx Board of Realtors provide excellent opportunities for professionals servicing the real estate industry to make new contacts or renew old friendships. We sponsor three major networking events which attract from 600 to 900 of the most successful professionals in the metropolitan area.

It's a good idea to mark your calendar and plan to attend these events, which can possibly generate significant new business for you. The dates of the events are: April 25, 1996 for the Annual Banquet (a formal black tie occasion); June 17, 1996 for the Exhibition & Sports Expo at the Ridgeway Country Club (full-day event featuring golf and tennis tournaments, trade show exhibitions and much more); December 12, 1996, Annual Holiday Party (many companies schedule their office parties with this event for big savings/unlimited food, entertainment and networking).

For those who have attended any one of these popular events, all will agree to the quality and well organized opportunities for guests. Companies purchasing full tables receive a prominent table sign and all guests are assigned seating. The Program & Seating List for each event features the name and table assignment of each guest which makes networking easy.
