The Razz: Thanks for memories.

Byline: WITH BEVERLEY LYONS AND LEE-ANN FULLERTON

KATE WINSLET says she would never erase any of her memories if she had the choice even the painful ones.

In her new movie, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, she plays an impulsive young woman who goes to a clinic to have her memories of her ex-lover (Jim Carrey) erased. Then he does the same. But Winslet, 28, wouldn't take such a step herself. She said: 'Memory is a profoundly important part of life, even if the memories are bad. I would never erase any of them.' Winslet has known heartache. Her first serious boyfriend, writer Stephen Tredre, died of cancer in 1997 and her three-year marriage to Jim Threapleton ended in divorce.
