The PMI Group Chairman and CEO Roger Haughton Rings NYSE Closing Bell to Mark PMI's 10th Year as a Public Company.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Roger Haughton, Chairman and CEO of The PMI Group, Inc. (NYSE:PMI), will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange today to commemorate PMI's tenth anniversary as a publicly traded company.

"PMI has a history dating back more than 30 years, but we took a quantum leap ten years ago when we became a publicly-traded company," Haughton said. "In ten years PMI has transformed itself from a small, domestic mortgage insurance company to a leading global provider of credit enhancement solutions. I'm very proud of everything this company has achieved in the past ten years. Ringing the bell at the exchange is a meaningful way to celebrate and commemorate our accomplishments."

This is PMI's third appearance at the Exchange. The first was in 1995, when the company went public in what was at that point the sixth-largest IPO in the NYSE's history; the second, in 2000, to celebrate the company's fifth anniversary. Today Haughton is accompanied by his wife Judy Haughton, PMI board members Wayne Hedien, Richard Thomas, and Ronald Zech, and members of PMI's executive management team, including Steve Smith, President and CEO of PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., Brad Shuster, President and CEO of PMI Capital Corporation, Vic Bacigalupi, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, Don Lofe, Chief Financial Officer, and Glen Corso, Group Senior Vice President.

"We've grown a lot, but we're still committed to the same core values," Haughton said. "Home ownership is a global dream, and our goal is to make that dream come true by facilitating sustainable homeownership. I want to thank our customers, our shareholders, and our incredible group of talented, dedicated employees for a very successful decade. I'm confident the next one will be even better."

The NYSE is the world's leading and most technologically advanced equities market. On an average day, 1.46 billion shares, valued at $46.1 billion, trade on the exchange. The Opening Bell(SM) and The Closing Bell(SM) of the NYSE signify the start and finish of the NYSE's trading day, at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST, respectively, and are among the most widely viewed daily events in the world. Ringing the bell is an honor accorded to heads of state and senior executives of listed companies, among others.
