The North Star Group and ITT Corporation have developed and released a prototype web portal designed to demonstrate the World Wide Web as a service delivery platform.

The North Star Group said that the development was carrier out in support of the selection process related to the Federal Aviation Administration's Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) programme and the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NGATS) initiative.

Additionally, the primary goal was to provide the end-user with a functional and feature-rich display, through using web browser technology to provide views similar to those seen in Air Traffic Control (ATC) towers and a pilot's cockpit avionics display.
