ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2002

The National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (NAREB) announced today that Ronald L. Branch, president of RLB Realty Group, Inc. in Chicago, was elected president-elect at the organization's national conference and exposition on August 14, 2002 in Atlanta. Branch, who previously served as NAREB's 1st Vice President, will become the organization's 23rd president and one of the youngest in its history when he assumes the position in August 2003.

Branch, who will succeed Edward London, will spend his president-elect term promoting the organization's current initiatives to the membership, including the initiative to create 1 million new black homeowners by 2005. London will serve as a mentor to Branch, educating him throughout the year about the organization's policies, finances and partnerships.

"I look forward to working closely with Ron over the next year while he serves as President-Elect," said NAREB President Edward London. "It is my intent for him to be exposed to all of NAREB's internal and external operations during this preparatory period so that when he ascends to the position of president, he will be ahead of the curve."

Branch has traveled extensively throughout the country visiting NAREB chapters and talking with members about housing issues in their markets. As a result, he has become an expert on some of the matters that are prevalent in urban areas of the United States as they pertain to real estate. As NAREB president, he plans to position the organization to address some of these challenges.

"I am ecstatic and humbled that I have been chosen to become NAREB's next national president," said Branch. "In my new role, I plan to work to unify the organization's chapters under one umbrella with mutual goals and objectives. I also plan to collaborate with other organizations to deal with the nation's housing issues as they pertain to urban areas and underserved minority communities."

Based in Chicago, Ronald Branch has been president of RLB Realty Group, Inc., a full-service real estate brokerage specializing in REO/foreclosure marketing, asset management and redevelopment since 1990 when he founded the company. Branch served as an owner of an ERA brokerage and as a sales person for Re/Max Diversified Realty in Chicago in previous roles. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1987 and has been a licensed real estate instructor since 1991. He co-founded, in 1996 with six other REALTISTS, the Young Realtist Division (YRD), an affiliate of NAREB. Branch, who graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, IL with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management, is a member of the St. Edmund Episcopal Church and of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

The National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (www.nareb.com), headquartered in Lanham, MD, a suburb of Washington DC, is the world's oldest and largest professional organization for black real estate professionals organized into over 60 chapters throughout the United States of America who represent real estate agents, mortgage bankers and brokers, lending institutions, developers, insurance companies, appraisers, inspectors and investors. NAREB's mission is to enhance the economic improvement of its members and of the minority communities they serve. The members of NAREB are referred to as REALTISTS.
