A HI-TECH Glouc- estershire engineering company says it is having to shed 55 jobs in order to stay competitive. Moog Controls, based at the Ashchurch Business Park in Tewkesbury, says it has been affected by a depressed manufacturing industry. The firm makes specialist control systems and its customers include Formula One racing teams.
SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has unveiled plans to create 350 jobs in Daventry with the opening of a distribution depot. The depot, supplying frozen food to stores in the Midlands and South of England, is to be built at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal. Tesco recently said a new store was to open in the town creating 300 jobs.
THREE East Midlands regeneration projects have won praise from Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott. Two of the projects, in Leicester and Lincoln, have helped to bring jobs to areas suffering from depression. The third scheme, in Bakewell, Derbyshire, involved rural regeneration to stop a cycle of economic decline in the market town.
AS many as 3,000 jobs could be created at a multi-million pound business park planned for the East Midlands. The plan to develop Carlton Park in Leicester has already been given the seal of approval by the East Midlands Development Agency. The site will be developed by Alliance and Leicester as high-quality offices alongside its customer service centre.
