The Judge: Pet insurers in the doghouse.

CHRIS KIRKWOOD has been paying pounds 26 a month for pet insurance since his Chinese Shar-Pei, Simba, was a pup.

But insurers PetPlan are in the doghouse for refusing to cough up pounds 600 for sight-saving eye treatment.

Chris, of Hamilton, said: "Simba is going blind but they don't want to know.

"They say it's excluded from the policy as it's a common problem with this breed but they never told me that."

PetPlan's inquiries are ongoing. They said: "The condition began before insurance was taken out."
