The Giving Card Launches Today with the Help of Postcode Anywhere.

Worcester, United Kingdom, November 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Giving Card is a point of sale discount card that aims to provide charities with additional donations, members with discounts from a wide range of suppliers throughout the UK and to provide those suppliers with more business.

Founded by young entrepreneur Dan Taylor, The Giving Card hopes to raise millions of pounds for charities all over the UK by giving away 50% of all profits as donations. As Dan says, though, the goal is to help both charities and businesses in these troubled times.

“I started the company after I finished university, over a year ago. With businesses and charities both struggling to stay afloat in the poor economic climate, I really wanted to find a way to help bring them together.”

According to Dan, turning the vision into reality has meant paying attention to detail. As in any charitable venture - making it easy for people give has to be matched by precision execution to keep the operation running smoothly and efficiently.

“Our website directs members to businesses and restaurants across the whole of the UK, therefore it's imperative for us that the address we give our members is 100% accurate. To achieve this, we used an address validation service provided by Postcode Anywhere which meant that any addresses entered are captured and validated at the point of entry.

“We also use bank validation software so that our members can sign-up to our membership using direct-debit, allowing users to renew their card before it expires. Bank validation from Postcode Anywhere validates all the account information to ensure that Direct Debit mandates are set up correctly. Without this facility we could endure payment errors and would have to re-contact our customers to check the information making it a rather drawn out process.

“And, the requirement of validating bank details at point of entry is not just mandatory from a Direct Debit perspective, but also from a customer service one, speeding up the process for them. The more professional our website looks the more confidence customers will have in us as a company.

"Leaving information as important as address and bank details to be manually inputted is simply not acceptable. It would mean sending card to the wrong address and failing to process payments. For the sake of the people we are trying to help, this is something we can't afford to get wrong. Also, given the fact we are a brand new company, it would undermine our credibility."

Phil Rothwell, Postcode Anywhere's sales and marketing director, commented: “It's always refreshing to see young, vibrant, businesses that support the local economy and give something back to charity.

“As a new company, your reputation is everything. Your website is usually the first instance your customers will hear or see your company. It is fundamental tool to attracting and retaining new customers, which is why Postcode Anywhere's address look-up and bank validation should be in every start-ups technological arsenal. These are effective tools that are proven to improve customer service, increase conversion rates, and minimise administration costs.

“In my view, it is the application of business processes and the use of technology that will mark the difference between a run-of-the-mill company and a thriving one.”

The Giving Card offers discounts throughout the UK while allowing charities to generate much needed extra revenue for great causes. The card was launched on 8th November. A full list of discounts and offers are available at www.thegivingcard.co.uk.
