The French Connection: Boutin's daughter makes her mark.
FRANCOIS Boutin's daughter Patricia Miller was a high-profile player at Deauville on Saturday night, representing her bloodstock agency Suprina, which she runs from her apartment in New York.Acting on behalf of Chryss O'Reilly and Edouard de Rothschild, she put in a successful Ff9 million (pounds 864,553) sale-topping bid for a half-sister, by Diesis, to Sagitta 2,000 Guineas winner King's Best and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Urban Sea. The filly will go into training with Pascal Bary.
Miller's links with Deauville naturally go back a long way. "I started working at Agence Francaise at the age of 13, because my father wanted me to earn the cash I was spending at nightclubs," she recalls.
She started working with Rothschild 12 years ago, with the purpose of taking the famous colours and breeding operation back into the front line.
"Edouard is interested in racing, and myself in breeding. It's the perfect match," says Miller, who also acts as a consultant for O'Reilly.
"My proudest moment has come with Black Penny. Her first foal was Bluemamba, who won the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches for Chryss and Tony O'Reilly at Longchamp in May."
She adds: "I learned all about pedigrees listening to my father in the car. I think he would be pleased to know that my first purchases have already turned into successful broodmares."
